Description: "Do The Right" Stories - "UNDER THE SNOW"
This little 18-page booklet contains one of "A Series of Stories By Robina F. Hardy, Author of "Jock" Halliday," etc., based on a theme of "TRUST IN GOD AND DO THE RIGHT". This tale features a boy who's ridiculed by his friend for doing "what his mother told him" but who, of course, becomes a hero and is rewarded in the end.
The cover has a very elaborate Victorian drawing of a little boy and girl reading a book, framed by a circle of flowers and an arch of even more flowers. This booklet may have been one of the publisher's "Sunday School Reward Books", a catalogue of which was offered "on application".
The booklet is held together with two staples.
Size: approx. 5 3/4" x 3 7/8"; 18 pages
Date: Not dated, but pre-1900, I believe
Publisher: THOMAS NELSON AND SONS, LONDON EDINBURGH & NEW YORK
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The booklet is only lightly soiled and has several mild creases along the spine. There's a small "nibble" at the upper right edge of the first few pages (see scans) and a larger piece missing from the margin of the back page (nothing that affects any text, however). The title page has the words "Maud Hunters Book" written in ink, and the staples exhibit just a bit of rust.
